You should do your own due diligence to verify how your truck was factory equipped. NOTE: there may be some variations in these codes. Late model engines can be identified by the 8th digit of the VIN or by using the RPO code, which can be found on the sticker in the glovebox on older trucks. GM engines can be identified by a code in the VIN since 1972. Not sure which engine you have in your Silverado or Sierra? It can be confusing as GM made many changes and updates along the way and have reused VIN and RPO codes for different engines over the years. ![]()
